Nepathya’s recent gig that took place at 02 Academy Brixton in London left the audience in amazement. This was the third time this folk rock band performed in UK.
For the first time, Nepathya performed in UK five years ago which ultimately became a historic moment for all the Nepalese people as it was the first time any Nepali band had performed in that venue. Thereafter, the band had played two shows at 02 Academy Brixton.
As soon as the band started playing their set, the entire crowd started singing along which, like always was a beautiful scenario to observe as well as listen to. The band also performed the song ‘Kurup Anuhar Ho, Yaha Kohi Sathi Chaina’ in their own style which was originally written by Sarubhakta and composed by Vikram Gurung. The song has been an opening act for Nepathya’s concert for their 25-year celebration shows.
During the band’s two hour set, Amrit Gurung shared his experiences from his trip to various places across the country. He also reflected on the significance of unity among the people of the country.
The show was hosted by Sahana Bajracharya. According to the organizer Chandra Gurung, the show was housefull making it an ultimate success. After this show in London, the band is returning back home as they also have another gig this month in Swomaybhu. “I feel really happy that we are performing in Swoyambhu” says Dhurba Lama. He further added saying, “Swoyambhu Club has taken the responsibility for organizing this gig.”
Like always Nepathya has Dhurba Lama on the drums, Suraj Thapa on the keyboard, Subin Shakya on the bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on the guitar, Shanti Raymajhi on the madal and Amrit Gurung on the vocals.
