The grand finale of the Gorkha Cup 2018 successfully concluded on Sunday. Gorkha Cup is one of the biggest event that takes place annually among the Nepalese community in London.
2018 marked the sixteenth anniversary of this football competition. About 12,000 people were present in the grand finale of Gorkha Cup 2018 which took place in Queens Avenue, Aldershot.
A total of 42 teams had participated in the tournament this year which had 32 teams in the primary competition whereas 10 teams were on the veteran group. The teams even included members from other cities like: Hongkong, Holland and Belgium.
Mongolian Bhanja managed to win the primary competition. They won 2,500£ along with trophy and certificates. Similarly, Ilam FC won the title cup in the veteran sector bagging the cash prize of 1,200£. And Kent FC managed to secure second runner up position winning 800£.
The winning teams were handed over their trophies and certificates by the main guests of the event. The guests were Rushmoor Borough’s Mayor Counselor Steve Masterson, British Conservative Politician Leo Dochettry, London’s Nepalese Deputy Head Sarad Raj Aaron and Idea For Nepal’s CEO Siromani Dawadi.
